Our team reviews all applications to confirm basic eligibility. Every application is treated with complete confidentiality.

Selection
At the close of each application window, one recipient is selected by drawing from the eligible pool. Winners are notified by phone and email.

Once confirmed, we coordinate everything — your clinical assessment, your travel, and your admission. You just have to show up.

If you do choose to share, you decide exactly how it's used — from sharing it publicly with your name, to keeping it completely private. What Is the Care Forward Scholarship?

Every day, thousands of people who need addiction treatment don’t get it — not because they don’t want help, but because they can’t afford it. California Care Recovery created the Care Forward Scholarship to change that, one person at a time.

Each quarter, we select one recipient and cover the full cost of their treatment at our facility — up to $60,000 in care, including roundtrip travel. No out-of-pocket costs.

Who Can Apply

The Care Forward Scholarship is open to anyone who meets the following criteria:

  • Age: 18 to 65 years old
  • Residency: U.S. resident — all 50 states eligible, we cover your travel
  • Need: Unable to afford the cost of addiction treatment
  • Condition: Seeking treatment for substance use disorder, alcohol use disorder, or a co-occurring mental health condition
  • Availability: Able to commit to up to 30 days of treatment
  • First-time recipient: Have not previously received a Care Forward Scholarship from California Care Recovery

You don’t need insurance. You don’t need to have tried treatment before — or if you have, that’s okay too. All you need is a genuine desire to get better.

What does the Care Forward Scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers up to 30 days of treatment at California Care Recovery, including roundtrip travel. The level of care — whether detox or residential — is determined through a clinical assessment once you’re selected. There is no cost to the recipient.

How much is the scholarship worth?
The Care Forward Scholarship is valued at up to $60,000 — covering your treatment, clinical assessment, and roundtrip travel to our facility.
Who is eligible to apply?
U.S. residents between the ages of 18 and 65 who are seeking treatment for substance use disorder, alcohol use disorder, or a co-occurring mental health condition and who cannot afford the cost of treatment. You do not need insurance to apply.
Do I need to prove my financial situation?
No. We ask that you self-certify that you are unable to afford treatment by checking a box on the application. No bank statements, tax returns, or documentation of any kind are required.
How are recipients selected?
All applications are reviewed by our team to confirm basic eligibility. From the eligible pool, one recipient is selected by drawing. Selection is not based on story submissions or any subjective criteria — every eligible applicant has an equal chance.
Can I apply if I've been in treatment before?
Yes. Previous treatment experience does not disqualify you. Recovery is not linear, and we don’t expect it to be.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. If you applied in a previous quarter and were not selected, you are welcome and encouraged to apply again.
When will I find out if I've been selected?
We contact the selected recipient by phone and email within two weeks of the application window closing. All applicants will be notified of the outcome by email.
Is my application confidential?
Yes. All applications are handled with complete confidentiality. Your information will not be shared outside of California Care Recovery’s scholarship team.
Do I have to share my story to apply?
Absolutely not. The story section is completely optional and has zero impact on your chances of being selected.
What if I'm selected but can't start treatment right away?
Reach out to us at scholarship@califcare.com and we’ll do our best to work with your circumstances. Recipients have one week to confirm acceptance, and we’ll coordinate your timeline from there.
Where is California Care Recovery located?
California Care Recovery is located in Orange County, CA. We cover roundtrip travel from anywhere in the United States so location is never a barrier.
Does the scholarship cover any level of care I need?

The scholarship covers treatment at California Care Recovery at one of the following levels of care: Detox or Residential. Your level of care is determined by our clinical team upon admission based on your needs at that time. The scholarship covers your entry level of care for up to 30 days — it is not adjusted if your clinical needs change during your stay.
